Annual Calendar of Events, Explanations & Rationale July 01 – June 30
July National Convention - Usually the last week of the month ending the 1st Sunday in August. Awards, Resolutions, Direction and Re-dedication of HEED activities Rationale: June 30th reports and past year’s activities evaluated District – Planning National Activities & Reviewing Club reports League – No meetings, preparing national presentations e.g. Showcase books, posters and banner
August District Governors conduct annual planning and leadership workshop for local Club Presidents and board
Local Clubs membership annual planning based on convention’s resolutions, directions, and new ideas of sitting or incoming president. Rationale: Preparation for first general meeting and preparation of new membership. League - Black Heritage Tour – 2nd Saturday Rationale: August prevented conflict with school activities League - New Member Information Gathering and Application. League - Annual General Planning Meeting – 4th Saturday Rationale: Approve new members and mail information to governor and national headquarters timely to receive national membership packets and pins timely for September “Induction Ceremony” League - Membership dues are due – August 30th
September National / District / Local - Membership dues due and late charges begin the 15th. National membership packets received and mailed for new members Local Clubs inducting new members and assigning to program activities. League - Annual Induction & Rededication Ceremony – 4th Saturday League - Joint Meeting with Youth & Booster Club
October National – Board Meeting in New York and IAD United Nations Luncheon District Conference Planning (Usually 2nd or 3rd Saturday) Local – Health initiative Rationale: Most SCD clubs in the Metroplex hold their health initiative this month because of the Susan B. Komen’s Breast Cancer activities in Dallas. League - Susan B. Komen’s Run with Lady/President Calhoun League - Small Business Week Observance: Business After-Hours
November Local – Sister Club activity (Dallas Metropolitan Education Luncheon) Debutant activities are big in Dallas and begin this month Rationale: We try not to hold conflicting activities during others’ major fundraisers League – Kufika dance rehearsals twice during the month. Rationale: Our general membership meeting would conflict with Thanksgiving. December Local – We have created a trend for Kufika attendance League – Signature Program Kufika – Imani Worship 1st Sunday Rationale: Dallas holds Kwanzaa Fest the 2nd Saturday in December. League - Kufika Gala – 3rd Sunday, Kufika is an activity held during the Kwanzaa Season, The evaluation is completed immediately as pro’s and con's are fresh in the minds of all participants, e.g. youth, parents, mentors and club members. The Kufika activity usually relates to our Education and Economic Development programs. January League – No activity until Executive Board meeting Rationale: Gives the members a breathing period and allows the Executive team a chance for a mid-year reports to FVP/membership. League - Joint meeting with North Texas League Youth
February National - Celebrates Black History Month District – Final Conference Plans League – Black History & Education activities during general membership League - Vocal Arts activity if held League - Participate in International Affairs Division travel activities
March National Women’s History Theme – Her History is Our History District Conference – Usually the 2nd or 3rd Friday – Sunday League – Women’s History Event, usually 1st or 4th Saturday
April National - Call to Convention Local – Clubs Sisters’ Signature Programs SDBPWC annual Trailblazer’s Luncheon Greater Fort Worth BPW Luncheon Southeast Dallas BPW – Breakfast League – Kufika Planning & Applications due
May League - End of Year Reports to FVP League – Kufika Agenda to General Membership
June National Year End Reports – Due League - Kufika Induction Ceremony – 1st Saturday League - Kufika Orientation – 3rd Weekend (Centered around 19th of June) League - Joint meeting with NTLY, Year End Reports, Yearly Awards and in an election year the installation of new officers – 4th Saturday
